Lotus Will Be Revealing Their First New Car in Over a Decade, the Type 130

The legendary British automaker, Lotus Cars has announced that a brand new model will be shown off at the upcoming Shanghai International Auto Show 2019. Dubbed the Type 130, the first new vehicle in the Lotus lineup since 2008 is set to be the world's first fully electric British hypercar and is currently in the advanced stages of its development. For drivers in Jacksonville and around Ponte Vedra Beach, it's an exciting announcement.

This is a monumental moment for Lotus, which has been in business since the late 1940s. The brand is traditionally very deliberate when it comes to announcing and releasing new vehicles, so for them to come forth like this is a big reason to take notice. Even more important is the fact that they are pursuing the all-electric market, which is currently being dominated by Tesla.

The current lineup of Lotus sports cars consists of the Evora, Elise, and the Exige, all of which are world renowned for their progressive exterior, aerodynamic build, and first-class performance. For them to take their engineering chops and apply it to an all-electric vehicle speaks volumes about the confidence they have that the Type 130 will be incredibly powerful.

For now, we will wait on our hands and knees to see what Lotus is cooking up behind the scenes. Get excited, Lotus fans in San Marco and Palm Valley. This is going to be good.
