Special Edition Elise and Exige Will End U.S. Shipments

Lotus has announced that production of the Elise and Exige for U.S. consumption will be halted at the end of August due to the supply of the 1.8 liter four-cylinder Toyota engine.  These models will continue to be available to customers in other parts of the world.  So, what's the good news?  Lotus will make three special edition models that will be available in the U.S. and Canada before production ends.

The special editions Lotus plans on releasing consists of the Elise SC, Exige Matte Black and Exige S260 Final Edition.  Only 15 Elise SC vehicles will be built.  These sport cars will have a supercharged engine that cranks out 218 horsepower.  To finish it off the rear transom panel, roll hoop cover, hardtop, and door mirror housings will all be painted in matte black.  The going price will be around 57K.

The Exige Matte Black Final Edition will be fitted with a supercharged intercooled 257 horsepower engine.  And, of course it too will be finished with Matte Black.  Only 25 will be made and with a price tag of 70K this will be the most expensive special edition Lotus plans on releasing.

Last but not least 30 Exige S260's will be produced.  This special edition shares similar features as the Exige Matte Black Final Edition but customers will have a choice of colors.  For more information visit World Imports USA Lotus of Jacksonville located in Florida.
