Those of you out there who've heard of the Audi e-tron know that it's not unlike the famous Tesla Roadster. The pure-electric sports car boasts the kind of stats that you'd expect to find on a petrol-powered speed machine. And by that, we mean that it boasts well over 300 horsepower, and an unheard of 3,319 lb.-ft. of torque.
Of course, a big concern with a vehicle this powerful is noise, and rightfully so. See, while one might expect a sporty ride with this much power to roar out of a standstill, the Audi e-tron doesn't make even one squeak. That's thanks to its incredible all-electric platform. We here at World Imports USA know that this is a big risk to the safety of visually impaired pedestrians, as does Audi. And with that, Audi has opted to call in a "fixer" of sorts. And by that we mean sound aficionado, Rudolf Halbmeir.
Halbmeir is known for developing melodious sounds for everything from musical scores and personal recordings to now, artificial engine noises in cars. In creating a unique "voice" for the Audi e-tron, he notes, "There aren't many differences between music and a vehicle's sound. I trust my instincts and have to try out new ideas to determine where they will take me."1
The Audi e-tron should be hitting the streets of the greater Jacksonville area in the near future, though there's admittedly quite a bit of work that still needs to be done before it's ready for the production line. And with that, we invite you to stay tuned for more news about our favorite luxury brands.
