Lotus Announces New Evora GTC Racer

Sports car lovers in the Jackonsville area know the Lotus Evora GT4 Enduro is a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack. Still, that doesn't stop the British automaker from continuing to develop the racer and improve upon its already stellar performance. It's why Lotus set out to morph the Evora GT4 Enduro in to the newly-designed Lotus Evora GTC.

The new Lotus model features a lighter frame than its predecessor, as carbon-fiber doors, engine cover, and roof replaced the fiberglass frame found on the Evora GT4, along with new plexiglass windows. With its new trimmings, the Lotus Evora GTC comes in at a versatile 2,502 pounds.

Under the hood, there's no change in the Evora GTC, as the same 4.0-liter V6 that boasts 450 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque remain the same. There are upgrades on wheels, tires, and traction control however. Starting with the wheels, the new GTC sports 18-inch-by-10-inch wheels with 18-inch-by-12-inch ones mated to the back. The new rollers are complimented by flared wheel arches attached to each side. Both wheels and tires provide more grip, but Lotus is continuing testing on a new traction control system that features Bosch anti-lock brakes. The automaker hopes to see them installed on the Evora GTC, along with other new Lotus models down the line.

As for who will be one of the first to drive the new racer? That would be the team of McMahon Raceworks and Condor Motorsports, who plan to use the vehicle in both the 2012 Britcar MSA Endurance Championship, as well as the Rolex Grand-Am Series, along with many other endurance races around the globe.
