Lotus is not new to the racing world. Rather, racing is the spirit on which the brand and all new Lotus models, to this day, are built. However, as much of a racing veteran as Lotus may be, it's still got it. Of course, you know this if you're the lucky owner of a model from the prestigious Elise, Exige, or Evora ranges. But, the company's it factor is also underscored by the fact that the Lotus GP3 team has just scored their third championship in a row, at the Monza circuit in Italy.
Perhaps more impressive, the team - composed of Daniel Abt (with 149.5 pts), Conor Daly (with 106 pts.) and Aaro Vainio (with 123 pts.) - bagged the highly coveted title without even having to complete all races in the circuit. They, and the Lotus they were driving, are just that good!
Speaking on the notable victory, rookie Daniel Abt explains, "I'm at a loss for words to describe the feelings I went through this weekend. First thing first, a big thank you to Lotus GP for this incredible season…. Lotus and I had a fantastic relationship...It will take time to sink in but I honestly think we can be proud of what we achieved. Again, thank you all!!!!"1
…Ha, ha, ha… So, humble! We think you can be proud of what you achieved too, Abt. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to sink in!
