Upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG Coupe Gains 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive

Mercedes-Benz is looking to bolster the appeal of its AMG performance sub-brand, and it knows the best way to do so is to offer a dose of adrenaline to drivers from areas with adverse driving conditions. But how does an automaker do that? The answer is quite simple: by offering 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

The addition of this advanced drivetrain system is the latest rumors surrounding the forthcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG Coupe. Designed as a replacement for the current Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe, this new performance-fueled model is set to be smaller and tuned to take on the Porsche 911 Carrera.

As for how it will do that: Mercedes-Benz is planning on equipping the 2014 SLC AMG Coupe with a 3.0-liter V6 that delivers 330 horsepower. Such a powerplant could allow Mercedes-Benz to offer the SLC AMG Coupe at a lower price point than the current SLS AMG, though nothing price-wise has been confirmed at this point.

Of course, World Imports USA realizes some of you diehard performance aficionados may be wondering where the larger engine options factor in. They're not going anywhere. Mercedes-Benz plans to offer the upcoming SLC AMG Coupe with a 480-hp V8 engine as well. For those of you who require an extra dash of daring: Mercedes-Benz also has a 580-hp V8 in the works that's intended as the true replacement to the current SLS AMG.
