The Lotus Emira offers pure driving excitement wrapped in an elegant design, acting as an appealing alternative to the outgoing Porsche Cayman. While it may not surpass the Cayman in every aspect, it remains more intriguing. How can it become even more attractive? By boosting its power, naturally.
This is precisely what Lotus’s Australian distributor has achieved with a brand-new Emira variant. Simply Sports Cars has developed a limited-run Emira to pay tribute to the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit. Named the Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition, according to CarExpert, this track-focused model boasts increased power, enhanced styling, and a premium price.
Only 15 units will be produced, each equipped with the Mercedes-AMG M139 engine found in the Emira Turbo. This turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine usually produces about 400 horsepower, but the Bathurst Edition pushes that up to 503 hp.
Simply Sports Cars enhances this track-oriented car by fitting adjustable dampers, upgraded AP Racing brakes, and more aggressive aerodynamic components, including a carbon-fiber front splitter and a large GT4-style rear wing.
Australian enthusiasts will need to pay $249,900 AUD (approximately $176,000 USD) to own one. Each car is individually numbered, with the only customization option being the wheel color. Additionally, buyers receive an invitation to a Lotus-exclusive track day at Bathurst in 2027.
This seems like the ideal opportunity to fully appreciate the capabilities of a modified Emira. If interested, act quickly, as the first unit has already been sold, leaving just 14 available.
Motor1’s Opinion: The Lotus Emira is already thrilling with 400 hp, and adding over 100 more horsepower promises even greater excitement. Combined with the chassis upgrades, the Lotus Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition appears to offer an exceptional driving experience.
