Road & Track Tests the 2016 Lotus Evora 400: Lighter, Faster, Better

Lotus in back, after five years of a financial fiasco for the esteemed British sports car maker. Road & Track recently had the opportunity to take the all-new Lotus Evora 400 out for a spin.

Fasten your seatbelts. This is the fastest production Lotus road car ever. The 400 refers to the horsepower count of the Toyota Camry-derived V6, which adds a charge cooler to an Edelbrock supercharger, ratcheting torque up to 302 pound-feet between 3,500-6,500 rpm. The Evora is at its best at 5000 and above.

R&T reports the six-speed manual gearshift feels meatier and shorter-of-throw and the optional automatic (Intelligent Precision Shift, once Lotus-speak for a six-speed Aisin unit, is no longer the preferred nomenclature) is also vastly better.
