The picture above is of the 2014 Lotus but this story is of an older model. In the '50s a Lotus cost between the $2,000-3,000 and right in the middle of that is what Robert Kahmer and his friend Ben Fowke split for a 1955 Lotus Mark X. In 1958, for $2,700, Kahmer and Fowke had the Lotus shipped from England and had it racing the very next weekend.
